Color Lab: tap a color for its tonal ladderIn Color Lab, tap any color you've added to see its highlight and shadow partners — real catalog colors, narrowed to your collection when My Markers is active — and add them with one tap.
Match any color to your markersType a hex code like #7fb8a4 into search, or use Photo Match, and Marker Muse finds nearby marker colors across the catalog. Photo Match samples the spot you choose on your device, then lets you send matches into the palette workflow.
Your markers, set up in a tapTelling us which markers you own is faster now. Add a cataloged set in one go, or mark an individual marker owned right where you see it. When you're signed in, your saved collection syncs across devices.
A better finish momentWhen you mark a palette as colored, you'll see how many you've finished, a one-tap way to share your coloring, and — the first time — a gentle option to double-check how the colors turned out on paper. Your total also shows in My Stuff.
Report a community photoSpot something that doesn't belong? Tap the flag on a community photo to report it. It disappears from your own feed immediately; repeated reports can hide it publicly while it awaits review.

Why Marker Muse Is Different

Marker Muse connects parts of coloring that usually live in separate places: your supplies, palettes, coloring books, color references, inspiration, and community.

Under the hood, its growing cross-brand color catalog covers alcohol markers, water-based markers, acrylic markers, gel pens, and colored pencils.

Palette generation, color relationships, matching, and comparison tools use catalog color data and deterministic color logic rather than generative-AI color suggestions. The goal is one practical coloring companion: less time bouncing between charts, screenshots, lists, and separate apps; more time coloring.

Marker Muse does not use generative AI to create palette suggestions, marker identities, or color relationships.

AI has helped behind the scenes with coding, troubleshooting, and development, while the product's color tools use catalog data, color calculations, curated relationships, and user-selected inputs.

Marker Muse also does not infer a named marker or supply identity from a hex-only color. Exact catalog identities are preserved when they are explicitly known.

Who created Marker Muse?

Hi, I'm Michaela.

I'm a mom of three, a daycare teacher, an avid colorist, content creator, and the sole creator of Marker Muse. What I'm not is a professional software developer.

Marker Muse started because I was spending more time choosing colors than actually coloring. I found myself constantly flipping through marker cases, swatches, screenshots, and color charts trying to decide what colors to use next. After one too many coloring sessions spent searching for colors instead of coloring, I decided to build the tool I wished existed.

I also happen to have an ADHD brain, which means I love patterns, systems, and finding better ways to do things. If there's a process that feels confusing, overwhelming, or unnecessarily complicated, my brain immediately starts looking for a simpler solution. Marker Muse is the result of thousands of those little "there has to be an easier way" moments.

Today, Marker Muse is still a one-person project. Every feature, marker database update, bug fix, late-night idea, and random burst of inspiration comes from a real coloring obsession and a lot of learning along the way.

Marker Muse is built by a colorist, for colorists. The goal has never been to make one more single-purpose coloring tool. It's to keep the parts of coloring that matter connected, help people discover colors and books they may never have found, reduce decision fatigue, and get back to the fun part: coloring.

Community driven

What started as a personal project has grown into a community of colorists who share ideas, report bugs, suggest features, test new tools, and help shape the future of Marker Muse.

The Marker Muse Facebook community is a place to share palettes, discuss supplies, discover color combinations, ask questions, and connect with other coloring enthusiasts. Many Marker Muse improvements have come directly from community feedback.

Pro removes the free-tier caps and unlocks Marker Muse's current Pro controls, including unlimited saved-for-later palettes and palette creation, a full multi-brand collection, palettes built from owned supplies or favorite colors, unlimited Photo Match, custom challenges, Buddy Colorings, tutorial saves, and mood idea submissions, plus Featured Palette analysis/save/remix shortcuts, coloring-book submissions, mood tuning, palette refinement, full Color Lab controls, Color Bridge, and early-access features.

Free accounts can submit 3 mood ideas per 24 hours, create 3 new Buddy Colorings, and save 3 new tutorials per month; viewing, editing, completing, linking, and deleting existing items stays available. Approved contributors can submit coloring books without Pro. Start with a free 15-day trial — no credit card required. The trial ends on the free plan unless you choose to subscribe. Paid subscriptions are $4.99/month or $49.99/year (about 2 months free) and renew until cancelled.
