Why Marker Muse Is Different
Most coloring tools are built around a single brand. Marker Muse is built around color itself — a cross-brand database covering alcohol markers, acrylic markers, gel pens, and colored pencils from over a dozen brands. Whether you own Ohuhu, Copic, Posca, Prismacolor, or any combination, Marker Muse treats your whole collection as a single color library.
Every palette, color relationship, and recommendation is built from real marker data — not AI, not guesswork. You can compare a Copic marker to its closest Ohuhu equivalent, find which Posca shade matches a colored pencil you already own, or discover which brands overlap so you don't buy duplicates. The results are grounded in actual color information so they're consistent and repeatable.
The goal is to make color discovery feel effortless — and a little addictive. Less time hunting for the right marker across a dozen brand websites, more time creating.
Supported brands
Additional brands, colors, and tools continue to be added as the project grows.
Built with technology. Powered by color theory.
Unlike many modern palette tools, Marker Muse does not rely on AI-generated palette suggestions.
While AI has helped behind the scenes with coding, troubleshooting, and development, Marker Muse does not use AI to generate palettes, marker recommendations, color matches, or color relationships.
The color tools inside Marker Muse are built from real marker data, color theory principles, undertones, complementary pairings, analogous relationships, and curated color systems. Every palette is grounded in actual marker information rather than AI-generated color suggestions.
Who created Marker Muse?
Hi, I'm Michaela.
I'm a mom of three, a daycare teacher, an avid colorist, content creator, and the sole creator of Marker Muse. What I'm not is a professional software developer.
Marker Muse started because I was spending more time choosing colors than actually coloring. I found myself constantly flipping through marker cases, swatches, screenshots, and color charts trying to decide what colors to use next. After one too many coloring sessions spent searching for colors instead of coloring, I decided to build the tool I wished existed.
I also happen to have an ADHD brain, which means I love patterns, systems, and finding better ways to do things. If there's a process that feels confusing, overwhelming, or unnecessarily complicated, my brain immediately starts looking for a simpler solution. Marker Muse is the result of thousands of those little "there has to be an easier way" moments.
Today, Marker Muse is still a one-person project. Every feature, marker database update, bug fix, late-night idea, and random burst of inspiration comes from a real coloring obsession and a lot of learning along the way.
Marker Muse is built by a colorist, for colorists. The goal has never been to create another generic palette generator. It's to help people discover colors they may never have thought to use, spend less time second-guessing marker choices, reduce decision fatigue, and get back to the fun part: coloring.
Community driven
What started as a personal project has grown into a community of colorists who share ideas, report bugs, suggest features, test new tools, and help shape the future of Marker Muse.
The Marker Muse Facebook community has become one of the best places to share palettes, discuss markers, discover color combinations, ask questions, and connect with other coloring enthusiasts. Many of the features in Marker Muse today exist because community members asked for them.
Support Marker Muse
Marker Muse is independently built and maintained by one person in between family life, teaching, coloring, and everything else that comes with being a busy mom of three. Every feature, marker database update, bug fix, and improvement takes time, and community support helps keep the project growing.
Whether you share the app, report a bug, suggest a feature, invite a friend, or support development directly — you're helping shape the future of Marker Muse.
