Privacy Policy
Overview
Marker Muse is a cross-brand marker color database and palette discovery tool. You can browse markers, palettes, and color families without an account. Some features — saving palettes, tracking your marker collection, sharing to the community, and Marker Muse Pro — require an account. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) stores your email address, display name, and profile image. We use this to sign you in and to associate your saved content with you.
Content you create
Palettes you save, custom palettes you build, moods you keep, favorite colors, the marker sets you mark as owned, and any photos or posts you share to the community are stored against your account so they're there when you return.
Payment information
If you subscribe to Marker Muse Pro, payments are processed by Stripe (web) or Google Play via RevenueCat (Android). We never see or store your full card number — we keep only a subscription status and the processor's customer/subscription identifiers needed to manage your plan.
Usage analytics
We record first-party, privacy-respecting usage events (for example: which features are opened, palettes viewed, and conversion steps) to understand what's useful and improve the app. For signed-out visitors these are tied to an anonymous session identifier, not to your identity.
Technical data
Like most web apps, our servers process standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages, keep the service secure, and prevent abuse.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and save your palettes, collection, and community content.
- To process and manage your Marker Muse Pro subscription.
- To send essential account email (welcome, trial reminders, and updates you've opted into).
- To understand usage and improve features.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising networks inside the app.
Service providers we share with
We share the minimum data needed with trusted providers that operate the service on our behalf:
- Clerk — authentication and account identity.
- Stripe — web subscription billing.
- Google Play / RevenueCat — Android in-app subscription billing.
- Resend — transactional and account email delivery.
- Hosting & database infrastructure — to run the app and store your content.
Your choices and rights
- Access & update — view and edit your profile and saved content from within the app.
- Email — unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time using the link in any message.
- Delete your account — permanently delete your account and associated data from the app's settings, or via our Account Deletion page.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, saved palettes, custom palettes, moods, favorites, and collection are permanently removed. Anonymous community contributions (such as color-accuracy votes) may be retained in de-identified form. We may keep a minimal billing/audit record where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Children's privacy
Marker Muse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
